Slow and Steady.

Slowly and surely I’m making head way into this WIP. It’s been years since I wrote the first draft, and I have to admit I got a little discourage this past summer about ever finishing it. It’s easy to fall into this little hole. I mean, I’ve been editing/revising the first several chapters for almost five years and I’m no where near finished.

My progress is that I have a great start to a great novel. Twitter helps me keep going. The writers and authors I follow provide a great community of ideas, tips, tricks, and motivation to keep going. Hopefully, I’ll be unveiling a box of books or cover reveal in the near future.IMG_4857.JPG

I’ve changed my editing process. I’m taking time each day concentrating on my breathing and clearing my mind from distractors. I’m not engaged on social media as much either, so I do less tweeting and posting. I’ll read a blog here and there of course and retweet and like a few, yet I’m focused solely on DOA.

I’m taking my time because I have one shot. Once it’s published that’s it. I’m not aiming for perfection, but right the first time. I love fantasy and this world I’ve created needs to be told how I see it.

WIP Update: Focus!

Alright. I’ve been slacking a bit. I haven’t made too much progress in this chapter as I planned. I hit a rough patch where two characters meet, talk, and explain things for the first time. It’s a major and important part, and it must be worded just right. The mood has to be perfect, and descriptions, descriptions, de-scrip-tions!

pexels-photo-2.jpgThis is where I’m pulling my hair out (more like my brain is puking all over MS Word). It’s tedious editing this, yet once I get through this part the rest will be a breeze until the next chapter. All of my focus has been on this little scene, although small, it needs make the huge impact to readers.

I hope everyone that’s reading Destiny of an Azurine likes the story thus far! I know, not much has happened, but do not worry! Things are about to get dicey! Well, not dicey, maybe more interesting. Is it okay that your protagonist, you’ve created, is not your favorite character? Because she’s not. I still love her personality.

Anyways, I need to get back to this patch of thorny words, and make some sense of what needs to go down or happen here.

Keep Writing! (I’m editing.)

From Vampires to Dragons…What’s next?

There always seems to be a new fad in writing which drives us to embrace the fantasy world. It’s been vampires for the longest time with Twilight coming out, and before that it was wizards and witches with Harry Potter.
True Blood is still an ongoing series on HBO with its mix of werewolves, vamps, faeries, shape shifters, and throw in some witches, why not? I haven’t read the books to this series as of yet, but the series used to be good. Now I have to watch it because…just because (Sometimes I wanna claw my eyes out!). The dialogue is completely crappy! The actors are no help either. My sympathy goes out to Alexander Skarsgard. A beautiful vamp with the crappiest lines.

Walking Dead’s zombies have taken over! It’s pretty crazy how you can watch episodes of no zombies and then BAM! Zombie herd crossing! I’d call this a seasonal trend or fad. These zombies are only hot during autumn (I like “autumn” better than “fall”). Particularly Halloween, I think a lot of little zombies will be appearing this year. Can’t wait for the new season!

Now, Game of Thrones’ dragons are hot! When I was growing up, I had a very good friend of mine who loved dragons (still does). I bet he’s pretty pleased now they’re the latest trend. I never would have thought these fanciful creatures would get their 15 minutes. I don’t know what crap I’ve been watching up until this series. This show has great dialogue, and actors are awesome! Don’t you just want to slaughter Geoffrey?  ^_^ (Lena Headley is great! I first watched her in Jungle Book)

What’s next? Well, faeries/fairies (however you want to spell it) have yet to be in the spotlight. To me, fairies seem to remain on the kiddie level. Tinkerbell and Winx Club seem to pretty much own them for now.

Witches seem like they would have taken the stage, but dragons were like “it’s our time to shine”. I don’t think we’ll see them center stage for awhile. Unicorns haven’t had their time. Then again, what would that series in any outlet really look like?

So, what’s next? Who knows, but aren’t you glad that vampire phase is over?
